Sobre el programa

English with HOOP is an after-school space that provides a stimulating English learning environment for children and adolescents from the outskirts of Arequipa. This year, in our new Community Center, we seek to reach 100 children, aged 3 to 17.

We feel SO ready for this, and would love to count on you!

Requisitos e Indicaciones

Willingness to do something for others.
Availability of time to devote to volunteer work.
Commitment to the program.
Tact, respect and consideration to be able to establish a relationship with the beneficiaries of the program.
Know how to work in a team.

WHAT WE OFFER

24-hour in-country support.
Airport pick-up in Arequipa.
Daily office snacks and arrival kit.
Program training and weekly check-ins.
Certificates (and Reference letter, upon request).
Professional and practical experience in a friendly, welcoming, and supportive environment.
Experience and a new network in the NGO sector, plus learn about international development issues.

Quick-start quechua classes with moms of our community.
Workshops on quena flute and other traditional instruments.
Cooking classes with our moms! And a taste of yummy Peruvian food!
Workshops on traditional Peruvian dances!

We organize one of these experiences per month! So the longer you stay... the more Peruvian you get!

Compromiso

Plan classes for students between the ages of 3 - 17 (each volunteer will teach a specific age group, so they won’t have to plan for so many ages).
Teach English to one group of 20 students (Monday to Friday, 3:30 - 5:00 pm / Saturday, 10:00 am - 12:00 pm).
Participate in Education team meetings, alongside a few other general HOOP activities.

* The volunteer offers to perform, together with the organization, a voluntary, free and generous provision of civic and social services, without any financial compensation, for the benefit of others and for the improvement of their quality of life.

*He/she commits himself/herself to go to all the schedules on the dates registered in the course of the period proposed above. In addition, should the volunteer wish to leave the program early, he/she undertakes to inform the NGO contact as soon as required.

*The volunteer also undertakes to strive to achieve the goals or results established and expected by the organization, thus generating a common objective.
